Say Yes to Languages – French 2025
We are delighted to share that Portroe National School is once again taking part in the Say Yes to Languages programme. This initiative, supported by Languages Connect and the Department of Education, gives primary pupils the chance to explore a modern foreign language in a fun and engaging way.
Last year, our 5th and 6th Class pupils enjoyed learning Spanish, gaining an introduction to the language as well as the culture behind it. This year, we are excited to announce that our pupils will be learning French.
The programme provides a taster module over several weeks, introducing pupils to everyday words and phrases, songs, games, and cultural activities. Its aim is to build confidence and spark curiosity about languages, helping pupils to see the value of learning a new language in today’s world.
We are very proud to be involved in this national initiative and look forward to hearing our senior pupils share their new French greetings and expressions with the whole school community in the weeks ahead.
